Her observance is demonstrated again during the events of chapter one, where she picks up on the trust that's formed between her and Makoto, as well as the attraction Leon has towards her, and is able to use this to her advantage in her plan. She's able to pick up on how people are thinking and has amazing intuition, which she frequently jokes is because she's physic, though she quickly follows that with an assertion that she's kidding.
In addition to this, Sayaka is shown to sometimes doubt herself and her thoughts, especially when under the influence of stress or fear, as shown when she questions herself and how she could be fine following the reveal of the killing game and the loved ones killing motive.Īt several points throught Sayaka's brief time in game, she's shown to be very observant and intelligent.
However, she also has some more conflicting traits that help to flesh her out more and make her feel as if she is her own person, for example, Sayaka sometimes teases Makoto and jokes about being psychic, suggesting a more comedic side to her that isn't as frequently shown with her idol persona. Sayaka's personality is very similar to conventional girl-next-door anime tropes, being sweet, cheerful and supportive and doing her best to make friends. Sayaka's stage outfit, as shown in her motive video, is similar to the outfit depicted in her splash art, though it's primarily white in colour and shorter, with fewer ruffles. She also wears white knee high boots and two arm bands, and her hair is styled in two pigtails. A bow similar to this is also present in her hair, as an intricately decorated hairpin that sits on the left side of her head. This idol clothing includes a white and pink sleeveless, ruffled dress decorated with a similar pink ribbon to her official sprites, with the dress reaching just below the knees. Maizono's splash art features an alternate outfit that she presumably wears during her idol performances, being less generic than her in-game outfit. Komatsuzaki considers Sayaka's design to be the most orthodox out of the cast, describing her as a "basic cute young girl" Her skirt is blue with a tartan pattern, similar in colour to her eyes, and she wears simple black thigh-high socks under said skirt. Her shirt is white with blue sleeve cuffs and a sailor collar, decorated with a large, pink ribbon bowtie with tailes, attached below the collar. Sayaka's outfit is a traditional Sailor Fuku (Seifuku / 制服) uniform with long sleeves and a pleated skirt. According to character designer Rui Komatsuzaki, Sayaka is moreso characterised by her expressions moreso than her design, therefore explaining her more expressive face in comparison to some other characters. She wears blush and eyeliner, and has somewhat pink toned skin. Sayaka has a soft and expressive face with round, blue eyes and long eyelashes. Her bangs are held in place with three hair clips, two on the left and one on the right. Her bangs are styled with one section in the centre of her forehead, sweeping slightly to the right. She has long, royal blue hair that reaches her hips, with shorter sections framing her face that reach just below her breast. Sayaka is a slim girl of average height, appearing around 16 to 17 years old, though she is actually two years older as she experienced memory loss just before the game began, making her believe she was younger than she is. This was remedied during their time at Hope's Peak, where the two form a bond within the game's prologue and first chapter prior to Sayaka's death. Sayaka did have an interest in becoming friends with Makoto, especially after seeing him nurse an injured crane back to health, but she never managed to communicate much with him and build a proper relationship before they graduated. She attended the same middle school as Makoto, though they never particularly became friends at that time due to Makoto's awkwardness. Several students are implied to have some form of interest in her, including Makoto Naegi and Leon Kuwata. Her fans call themselves 'Sayakers,' as mentioned by Komaru Naegi. In-Game, Sayaka is very popular, being considered attractive and having a large fanbase consisting of both males and females. She is the first student victim in Trigger Happy Havoc, being killed by Leon Kuwata in Chapter One.
Sayaka Maizono is a female character who appeared in the first Danganronpa game, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc.
